Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Submission of scores from national tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
