IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM IST.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to an official notification.

Standardized test scores may be required for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International students may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. This process evaluates a candidate’s suitability for advanced study and research.

The academic year for which admissions are open is 2026-27 .
