IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Interested students can find the application form on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will supply recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills, according to the institute.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
