IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students can apply via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Process
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit GRE or GMAT scores.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Selection
Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to meet with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
