IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi accepts scores from national and international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen disciplines.

The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
