IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Submission of scores from national entrance exams may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an interview invitation. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
