IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This is done through a self-declaration or statement.
Application Requirements
Candidates must nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential. Oral and written English proficiency will also be assessed.
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Students with strong academic records receive interview invitations. Interviews are conducted by faculty committees from the relevant disciplines.
Proficiency in English must be proven. This can be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.
