The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are processed through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. This includes Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi selects candidates based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records receive interview invitations. These interviews are conducted by a faculty committee within the relevant discipline.
