Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examinations like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. English proficiency test scores from exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are required.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
