The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Acceptable scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
