IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Eligibility and Application Process

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. Two referees will be required to provide recommendation letters.

The referees’ comments will focus on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Required Examinations

For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, applicants must provide scores from English language proficiency tests, including TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Criteria

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
