The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal will remain open until March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information will be part of the official notification.
Admission Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) qualification is also considered.
International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are also accepted. English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
