IIT Delhi PhD/PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Details

The application window closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude and field proficiency. They will also comment on research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admissions notification.

Required Scores and Selection Process

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also considered.

International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also acceptable. English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will receive an invitation to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
