IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal for the 2026-27 academic year will close on March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Requirements
Candidates applying must be non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can submit letters of recommendation.
Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. The institute may require scores from standardized tests such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG admissions.
International examination scores like GRE and GMAT may also be considered. For admission, candidates typically need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
