Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are managed through IIT Delhi’s international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Candidates must nominate two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee evaluates candidates’ suitability for the program.
