IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admissions Process
Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Candidates need to declare their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants can also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty from their chosen discipline.
