IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. Applications are open until March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. International students can apply through the official website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International standardized tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct interviews for candidates with strong academic records.
