Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Process
Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English language proficiency test scores from exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are mandatory. Applicants should also submit scores from these tests.
Selection Criteria
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
