IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Details

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Academic Credentials

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admissions. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
