IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . Applications are now open for foreign national students for the 2026-27 academic year .

The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline to submit applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency . They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) .

Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination .

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview . Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
