IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Process Details

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include national tests like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English language proficiency test scores from exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary. Candidates are required to submit scores from at least one of these tests.

Selection Criteria

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess candidates based on their performance during the interview.

The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Students should ensure all required documents and scores are submitted before the deadline.
