IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Further, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
