IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
