IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students pursuing PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit letters of recommendation.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is according to the official admission notification.

Eligibility and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Acceptable tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive invitations for interviews.

Interviews are conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The committee assesses candidates’ suitability for the program.
