IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Admission Process

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to nominate two referees who will submit letters of recommendation. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to the institute’s notification.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees in their chosen disciplines. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
