IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Eligibility Criteria

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be accepted.

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited.

An interview committee composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the selection.
