IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level Indian entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Further English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Candidates must submit scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
