IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Eligible candidates can submit their applications online.

Admission Details

The application portal for foreign nationals will accept submissions until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Prospective students can access the application through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.

The recommendation letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Academic Requirements

Submission of scores from specific standardized tests may be required. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
