IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are accepted through the official website, international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. These comments are part of the admission assessment.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also an option.

International standardized test scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also required.

Accepted English proficiency tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
