IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency.

Candidates also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Required Scores and Tests

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for PhD and PG admissions. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores may also be necessary. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic disciplines.
