IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Details

The application portal for foreign national candidates is open until March 30, 2026, 4:00 PM IST . Interested applicants can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. Applicants must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Recommendations will be submitted directly by the referees.

Admission Requirements

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:

  • For PhD/PG Programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
  • International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE), Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
  • English Proficiency: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate in the interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
