IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for foreign nationals to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
