IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Academic and English Proficiency Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates must also demonstrate English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited to an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
