IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM IST . Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Academic and Language Proficiency
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Any other recognized language test may also be accepted.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
