IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their comments will focus on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international entrance examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG courses for international students will be based on academic performance and an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
