IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also list two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
