The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. This opportunity is available to non-Indian nationals. It also includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Additional requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Candidates will also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
