IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website,international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
The referees will be contacted to assess candidates’ aptitude and research potential. Comments will cover their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research capacity, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
In addition to academic records, candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic backgrounds will receive an invitation to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
