IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window for the academic year 2026-27 remains open until March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are accepted through the institute’s dedicated website.

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other equivalent language tests may also be considered.

Selection Criteria

Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program.
