Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national eligibility tests such as GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International standardized test scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Selection Process
Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
