IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide details of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, and English communication abilities.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International students can also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.

English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
