IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window remains open until March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Application Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Interested students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential.
Admission Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel consists of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
