Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language abilities.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Indian exams like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
