IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

The admissions are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their overall aptitude, subject-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and oral and written English abilities. This assessment is detailed in the official admission notification.

Academic Qualifications and Testing

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from specific national and international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

In addition to academic and aptitude scores, candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
