IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

International candidates, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Admission Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proficiency in English language tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also a requirement.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
