The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply until March 30, 2026 . The application portal is open for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Eligible candidates include non-Indian nationals. This also covers individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referee Requirements
Referees will assess candidates. They will comment on overall aptitude. They will also evaluate proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking is assessed. English proficiency (oral and written) is also evaluated.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores are also considered. The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scores are applicable.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
