IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability.
Eligibility and Scores
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Indian tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
