IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Prospective students can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
These referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills, according to the official notification.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent. All applicants must declare their English proficiency.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
