IIT Delhi has opened applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration or a statement.
Application Requirements
Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026 .
Academic and Language Proficiency
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) can also be considered.
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Admission Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by faculty committees from the relevant departments.
