IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A strong academic record is necessary for consideration.

Selection Process

The final selection will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic backgrounds will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
